magnifying-glass.pngAssignment Overview

We assume vocabulary needs for the target group of this course and can use the silent comprehension score obtained on a TABE or CASAS test (found in SID--you may need to check with other staff for this information) as assessment data. Therefore, you will practice conducting assessments in alphabetics and fluency only for this and the previous Module assignment and reflect on the data you collect.

Fluency Assessments

1. Review the Quick and Easy Adult Reading Assessments materials you will use. If you would like to use passages from the Bader, you must request them from Kristine Kelly at kkelly01@hamline.edu.

2. Make sure you have the necessary materials for each student (paper or digital) and copies of documents to record student responses.

3. Assess 1-2 students and then answer the following reflection questions  (reply in writing below, submit a Google link below or record your answers) about the fluency assessments you conducted:

a. What did you discover about the strengths and needs of each student? How do you know?

b. What questions do you have about conducting diagnostic assessment for fluency?
